Museums in Cologne

Cologne is rich in museums that you can visit. If we were to list them all, you would probably sit and read in front of this page tomorrow, so we have briefly summarized the most important ones.


Roman Germanic Museum

For all lovers of Roman history, this museum is a must visit. Here you can learn jewellery, glasses, mosaics and many interesting facts from prehistory to the Middle Ages. The museum is also centrally located right next to our beautiful Cologne Cathedral.

Odysseum

"Here your knowledge can experience something!" is the motto of the Museum Odysseum, which is also a research centre and amusement park.

In 7 different areas (life, earth, cyberspace, people, children's city, gallery of the world and an outdoor adventure area) you will learn new things on 7,500 m² which you certainly did not know yet.

Museum Ludwig

The Museum Ludwig was built especially for works of art from the 20th century until today, as the Wallraf-Richartz-Museum gradually became too small for all works. There are now two museums with two temporal focal points.

Wallraf-Richartz-Museum

In the Wallraff Museum, on the other hand, you will find all the works of art that date back to the beginning of the 20th century and express 700 years of art history.

The museum is closed on carnival, 11.11 and Christmas Eve & New Years Day

Chocolate Museum

A real highlight in Cologne is the Imhoff Stollwerck Museum Cologne's chocolate museum. Here you will learn how chocolate is made and at the end you will probably find yourself standing in front of the biggest chocolate fountain you have ever seen.

NS-Documentation Center

The Centre is the largest memorial in Germany and provides information on all the events of this period.

The history of the city of Cologne is also presented in a museum. The exhibition actually dates back to the Middle Ages.

Carnival Museum

What better place to celebrate carnival than Cologne? Really nowhere! Since the Cologne Carnival is also rich in history and traditions, we had to dedicate a museum to it.
