Our beautiful Cologne Cathedral - the city's landmark

In 1248 the foundation stone was laid and the construction phase lasted just over 500 years. Nevertheless, we Cologne citizens carry it in our hearts. At that time, a new cathedral had to be built because the old one was no longer representative enough. From 1164 onwards, the remains of the Three Kings could be appreciated here in Cologne.Today still decorate its ca. Towers 157 meters high make up the cityscape and offer an incredible panorama. The Cologne Cathedral has a floor space of 8,000 m² and can accommodate up to 20,000 people.In addition, it was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1996. Find all the beautiful works of art and climb the countless steps into the towers.
